Scientists estimate this single specimen, stretching for miles off the coast of Ibiza and Formentera, is between 80,000 and 200,000 years old. This underwater meadow, protected by UNESCO, acts as a natural filter. It’ s the reason the Mediterranean shines with that famous crystal-clear brilliance.

But Posidonia is more than an ecological wonder — IT IS A MUSE Ibizan artist Antonio Villanueva transformed this essential element of the island’ s ecosystem into a renowned series of “Posidonia ” artworks.

Today, these stunning works live on Feeria canvases: handcrafted hand fans and silk sarongs.
